Please note that due to the lack of a quorum, the regularly scheduled September 7 Council meeting has been cancelled. Our next regular Town Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 6pm.

General Plan Economic Development Element and Public Facilities and Services Element Review by Town Council and Planning Commission

On Tuesday, August 23, at 5:30pm, the Windsor Town Council and Planning Commission will hold a special joint study session at Town Hall, open to the public, to receive and discuss preliminary drafts of the Economic Development Element and Public Facilities and Services Element of the General Plan. The Economic Development Element addresses the Town’s policies for providing an inviting business climate, a balanced economy, and diverse tax base. The Public Facilities and Services Element addresses the Town’s policies for the location and distribution of public facilities and services.

 

The Town welcomes feedback and public comment at this meeting and at all of the General Plan Update meetings. The agenda packet will be available prior to the meeting and can be downloaded here: http://bit.ly/2ap2RBI. The meeting can also be viewed via livestreaming broadcast at the same website address. General Plan Land Use Element Review by Town Council and Planning Commission

On Monday, August 15, at 5:30pm, the Windsor Town Council and Planning Commission will hold a special joint study session, open to the public, to discuss the Preliminary Draft Land Use and Community Design Element of the General Plan Update. This Element addresses a broad range of topics related to the physical structure and appearance of the Town's built environment, including the location and pattern of new development, community design, mixed-use, the urban growth boundary, and policies for specific areas of the Town, including Old Redwood Highway, North of Arata Lane, Shiloh Road East, and other areas. The topic of agricultural buffers will not be discussed at this meeting, but rather at a future meeting, when decision makers review the Draft Environmental Resources Element.

The Town welcomes feedback and public comment at this meeting and at all of the General Plan Update meetings. IRONMAN Vineman Triatholon this Saturday

 

The acquisition of the iconic Vineman Triatholon from IRONMAN marks many exciting changes for the race, its athletes and our community. The first of these is more participants, which gives the Town of Windsor and Sonoma County a fantastic opportunity to welcome, and introduce, guests from around the country and the world to this beautiful place we call home.
Because the race has been taking place in Windsor for many years, residents have become accustomed to the traffic considerations that occur throughout the race day. This year, the race route has changed, and while residents have been notified by mail, there is turn-by-turn instructions located on the IRONMAN website. Please look for the "Race Info" then click on "Course" and select "Turn-by-Turn Directions" near the bottom of the page.
The run route will include Keiser Park this year, which means the park will be closed to the public for the entire day on Saturday, July 30.

           The CPUC is holding two Public Participation Hearings in Santa Rosa on PG&E’s 2017 General Rate Case request to increase its rates, effective January 1, 2017. These free public meetings will be on Monday, July 25, 2016, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., at City of Santa Rosa/Recreation and Parks Dept. Steel Lane Community Center, Dohn Room, 415 Steel Lane, in Santa Rosa.

 

If PG&E’s rate request is approved by the CPUC, PG&E would increase revenue $333 million in 2017, followed by an additional increase of $469 million in 2018 and, an additional increase of $368 million in 2019.

 

Please bring your comments – and your neighbors! – to express your views to the CPUC about PG&E’s request to increase its rates. What do you think of PG&E’s service? What are your thoughts on PG&E’s rate request? The CPUC wants to hear from you!

Solid Waste Public Meetings - you are invited

The Town’s current contract with Windsor Refuse and Recycling for Town-wide franchised waste hauling services expires on September 30, 2017. In addition, the Town’s franchise agreements with debris box haulers Industrial Carting, Pacific Sanitation and Windsor Refuse & Recycling expire December 31, 2017. The voters of the Town of Windsor in 1996 adopted a ballot measure requiring waste management contracts to undergo the public bidding process, with a 10-year maximum contract term. The Town’s current franchise agreements have met this maximum term.

In preparation for the bidding process for these franchised services, the Town of Windsor will be hosting two public meetings to discuss and receive community input on the Town’s waste management services, Assembly Bill 939 and other State recycling mandates, and residential and commercial solid waste program components and desirable service changes or enhancement.

The meetings will be held on the following dates and locations:

• Tuesday, July 19 at 6:00-8:00 p.m., Community Center, 901 Adele Avenue; and
• Wednesday, July 27 at 6:00-8:00 p.m., Town Council Chambers, 9291 Old Redwood Highway, Building 400.

 

Both meetings will cover the same information, and the Town welcomes public participation in these meetings.
