What are the impacts of legalized recreational marijuana on Windsor?

We have included for Council consideration two proposed urgency ordinances which would impose a moratorium on outdoor cultivation and a moratorium on indoor cultivation, with limited exceptions. We will also discuss other aspects of Prop. 64 such as deliveries, commercial activities and smoking. Due to the need to address this issue in a quick manner following the election, we appreciate any assistance in getting the word out.

The meeting is being held at the Windsor Senior Center, 9231 Foxwood Dr.

Veterans Day on the Town Green - Friday, Nov. 11 at 11am

Saluting our Veterans: The American Legion will be hosting the Annual Veterans Day Memorial Celebration at the Sparks Memorial Stage on the Town Green at 11am on Veterans Day, November 11. For protecting all of the freedoms we enjoy every day, remember to thank a veteran for their sacrifice and their service to our country. Here is a photo from last year's event.

Windsor ranked #7 as a place for homebrewing

This North Bay Business Journal article notes that the Town has been highlighted in a list of cities across the nation where homebrewing of beer is on the rise!

"In Windsor, the report said, the weather is great for drinking beer and growing hops, and with ambient temperatures in the mid-60s to mid-70s, fermentation temperature is fairly easy to control for any skill level of brewer."
"Coming in first in the report was Boise, Idaho, followed by Minneapolis–St. Paul; Nashville, Tenn.; Phoenix; Rochester, N.Y.; and Tampa, Fla."

Upcoming Town Council meetings

We have two more Council meetings to be held in the month of November:

• Regular Town Council meeting - Wednesday, November 16 at 6pm
• Special Town Council meeting on the General Plan Update - Monday, November 28 at 5pm

Please note that both meetings will take place at the Windsor Senior Center, 9231 Foxwood Drive, due to the renovation of the Council Chambers for upgraded audio and visual equipment.

Be aware of fraudulent phone calls in Windsor

Over the last several days, a Windsor resident reported being called by a male subject attempting to solicit personal information. The call originated from a Town of Windsor employee phone number. It was determined that the call likely originated from outside of the United States. The caller likely used technology which enables them to “spoof” any phone number to appear on caller ID. We would like to remind you that Town employees will never ask for your personal information over the phone.

Ballot Drop off Box located at Town Hall

On Saturday, November 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters will have a guarded ballot drop off box, where you can drop off your voting ballot securely inside the lobby of Town Hall. Town Hall is located at 9291 Old Redwood Highway, Building 400 in Windsor.
