Police Chief's Letter to the Community regarding immigration enforcement policies

Letter to the Community

Police Chief Basurto wrote a letter to the Windsor Community regarding the Windsor Police Department’s law enforcement policy with respect to immigration. In January, the Town Council held its biennial goal-setting session. These goal-setting sessions generally take place every other year as part of setting Town-wide direction for the two-year budget. We are currently in the budget preparation process, and a Council budget workshop will take place in May for review of the draft budget. The new two-year budget cycle begins on July 1, 2017.

Council confirmed the following goals for Fiscal Years 2017-18 and 2018-19 (not in rank order):

1.    Urban Growth Boundary ballot measure for November 7, 2017
2.      General Plan Implementation for the first two years of the 22-year plan
3.      Pursue a hotel on the Town Green (part of General Plan Implementation)
4.      Civic Center relocation and redevelopment plans (part of General Plan Implementation)
5.      Proposition 64 – Recreational Marijuana mandates
6.      Lytton Tribe Development
7.      Prepare for SMART service to Windsor
8.      Parks and Recreation Master Plan Implementation
9.      Adopt policy and practice framework to enable and support Affordable Housing developments in Town

Town Council meeting of February 15

At the Town Council meeting next week, the Council will consider a revision to the calculation methodology for water and wastewater capacity fees. The proposal results in a reduction of these fees. These agenda items are of interest to developers, builders and  homeowners looking to add second units or new developments.

Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance Amending Title XVI, Chapter 6, Section 16-6-510(b) of the Windsor Town Code and Resolution of the Windsor Water District Approving Updated Water Capacity Fees
a.          Introduce and hold first reading, by title only, of an ordinance amending Title XVI, Chapter 6, Section 16-6-510(b) of the Code of the Town of Windsor (“Town Code”) pertaining to water capacity fees; and
b.         Receive a presentation on the proposed water capacity fees; and
c.          Open the item to public comment on the proposed fees and ordinance; and
d.         Adopt a Windsor Water District resolution approving updated water capacity fees for future development within the Town of Windsor and the Windsor Water District service area and superseding the existing fees established by Resolution No. 2764-11.
